At the start of the season, Patrick Mahomes was one of the first quarterbacks usually selected in fantasy football drafts. For anyone who drafted Mahomes, they usually could wait until the final rounds to get a backup or even wait until the season to select one of them off the waiver wire.

It wouldn't be surprising for some managers to have both Mahomes and Baker Mayfield that could be facing a tough decision this week. The fact that it is even a discussion is probably more of a reflection on Mahomes than Mayfield.

In the past four weeks, Mahomes has had only one game where he has broken 300 yards and two passing touchdowns. The other three games he has only thrown one touchdown and been under 275 passing yards while also throwing at least one interception.

As for Baker Mayfield, the past three games he has been one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy football. He has thrown eight touchdowns, no interceptions and averaged 269 passing yards per game.

Should fantasy football managers start Baker Mayfield or Patrick Mahomes in Week 17?

The Bucs are playing the New Orleans Saints this week and for the season has been one of the stingier defenses but recently quarterbacks have had some success. Last week, Matthew Stafford threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns, and four weeks ago Jared Goff had two passing touchdowns.

While Patrick Mahomes has struggled, he is still the quarterback I would start this week. The Bengals have allowed the 10th most points per game to quarterbacks this season and Mahomes has been much better at home with 16 passing touchdowns in eight games compared to only 10 on the road in seven games.

Fantasy football managers drafted Patrick Mahomes for these type of weeks and the Chiefs quarterback should have a productive week.
