Shockwaves reverberated around the NFL on Saturday evening after the Chicago Bears made a decision on the future of Justin Fields and that led to him being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fields will now head to the AFC North to join a Steelers team that has made one interesting decision after another this past week. That started with the team signing free-agent QB Russell Wilson to a new deal before on Friday, trading away former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, sending him to Philadelphia.

The immediate reaction to this should be that Fields will likely begin the 2024 season as the backup QB in Pittsburgh to Wilson. So what should fantasy football players, particularly those with Fields on their dynasty roster, do with the QB?

Most will start by screaming... loudly.

I talked about Fields' situation in early January and it was clear this would be one of the biggest storylines to follow this offseason. Hopefully, you thought ahead and cashed in on Fields' perceived value before the Bears did a terrible job of shopping a QB they apparently no longer wanted. To get only a sixth-round pick in return is completely ridiculous.

If you still have Fields on your roster, the only logical option right now is to hold him and be patient. The offers you're going to receive for him right now are going to look like the one the Bears ended up taking in reality. Fields may not be a starter again for awhile, but if Wilson isn't much improved from the last time we saw him in Denver, he could have the reigns of the Steelers turned over to him.

Next. Caleb Williams. Pump the brakes on the Caleb Williams hype train. dark

Fields is too talented to stay down for good, but for now, he's going to occupy a spot at the bottom of your roster, waiting for his next chance. This move also basically confirms that Caleb Williams will be the next quarterback of the Chicago Bears.
