Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud

The fantasy football world has been sleeping a lot on Houston Texans rookie QB C.J. Stroud, but it might be time to wake up.

After a so-so NFL debut against a tough Baltimore Ravens defense, the former Ohio State signal caller has improved every game, and is yet to throw an interception. Stroud is fantasy football's QB12 after two consecutive 20-point games against the Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Yes, Stroud was sacked 11 times in his first two games, and he'll have to face T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. But, the same Steelers defense just allowed Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to throw for 324 yards and two scores, albeit with three interceptions. Jimmy G still finished with a season-best 17.66 fantasy points, and that's perfectly viable if you lack better options.

Garoppolo has already racked up six picks this season through three games while Stroud is still at zero. The matchup is unappealing, but the 21-year-old's long-term fantasy value should be very appealing. If Stroud performs Sunday, he might be gone on the waiver wire next week before you get another chance to snap him up.
