Preseason rankings for all 32 projected starting kickers
By Jaren Kawada
15. Jason Myers, Seattle Seahawks
2023 rank: 4
Field goals: 35-42 (83%)
Extra points: 33-33 (100%)
As Seattle has gone through its ups and downs in the past half-decade, Myers has fluctuated with them, making it hard to predict how he will do each season. He finished in the top five in 2023 but still could not top his 2022 production despite taking a career-high 42 field goal attempts. With the second-most kick attempts in 2023, it is difficult to see Myers' value sustaining itself in 2024, particularly with the Seahawks going with former defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as head coach in the post-Pete Carroll era.
14. Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles
2023 rank: 6
Field goals: 30-32 (94%)
Extra points: 45-46 (98%)
Having been attached to the notoriously aggressive Philadelphia offense, Elliott's 32 field goal attempts in 2023 were surprisingly the second-most of his seven-year career. That resulted in his 135 points being a career high, leading to a sixth-place finish in fantasy. It would be exciting to hope that his most recent season is a sign of things to come but when looking at his career as a whole, his 2021 and 2023 stand out as outliers while his five other seasons have never resulted in a top-10 fantasy finish.
13. Will Reichard, Minnesota Vikings
2023 rank: NA
Field goals: NA
Extra points: NA
It is rare that rookie kickers make headlines during the preseason but Reichard turned heads in Minnesota's final preseason game with a 57-yard field goal that looked like it would have been good from 70. That leg strength was on display throughout his entire collegiate career at Alabama, with Reichard hitting 73 percent of his attempts from beyond 50. With over 100 points in each of his years as a starter in college, it was not just the strength of Reichard that made him the first kicker selected in the 2024 Draft as he missed just 14 career attempts through his five seasons.
12. Matt Gay, Indianapolis Colts
2023 rank: 5
Field goals: 33-41 (81%)
Extra points: 35-36 (97%)
Gay's 134 points were a career-high in 2023 but it was heavily dependent on volume as he hit just 81 percent of his attempts. Anthony Richardson's insertion into the offense theoretically should decrease his volume with their red zone efficiency expected to improve, potentially limiting Gay's value. Undrafted rookie Spencer Shrader also presents adversity on paper, though Gay should be the Colts' kicker by Week 1.
11. Dustin Hopkins, Cleveland Browns
2023 rank: 10
Field goals: 33-36 (92%)
Extra points: 24-26 (92%)
With a 10th-place finish in 2023, Hopkins was one field goal shy of matching his career-high set in 2016. After struggling with accuracy earlier in his career, Hopkins has become one of the most reliable legs in the league, evidenced by his career-high percentage in 2023. Hopkins' production was made more impressive considering Cleveland punted at the fourth-highest rate last season, a number that should decrease with stability at quarterback.
